VW Fox
film for the VW fox car and hotel - this was one of the three pieces of work which won me the VW Score Prize at the berlin film festival in 2006 - the jury summing up my work as '...displaying irony, an individual voice and executed with consumate skill'.
volkswagen subsequently picked the spot up for use around the world. I landed on the 'radio tuning' idea through sheer luck, listening to my son mess around with an old wireless, hitting various broadcasts at random - the idea fitted well with the frenetic edit rhythm of the pictures, and off the back of that, the collage of musical styles and moods came easy. trumpeter Jim Lynch lent his considerable talents to many of the pieces incorporated in the music. in addition to the music, all the sound design was created by myself.
