Mummifying Alan - Egypt's Last Secret
this film is a real one of a kind: UK scientist thinks he's discovered the secrets of egyptian mummy making, but needs a test subject to prove his theories with - enter Alan, a terminally ill taxi driver from torquay who volunteers his remains upon his dying.
despite its graphic imagery, the film is at heart a touching, human story, made with the blessing and full involvement of Alan's family.
the 2011 TV broadcast caused a sensation in the UK, and in 2012 the
film went on to be nominated for a BAFTA, and win the Royal Television Society award for best science
programme - beating the BBC's mighty 'Frozen Planet' in the process.
